Pex Fittings:

All of our fittings are lead free, and made to meet ASTM standards. Also it good to remember too that not all plastic tubing is Pex, there for Pex fittings will not work with most other tubing. When it comes to the most cost effective, long term fittings to use with your Pex tubing crimp rings are the best. Cinch rings will work, but they are not as good and are more expensive. Pipe clamps are another option to use, but has some trade-offs. Benefit is a quick and easy fix, but the tradeoff is a little more expensive, and may leak down the road. The clamps will work if you have a leaky pipe and need a “quick fix”. These fittings can be used with any 1 1/2" U.S. Standard Pex Tubing for making a Pex to MPT Fitting connection. Can be used with any clamp or crimp ring connection system. We carry 1 1/2" Stainless Steel Pex Pipe Clamps and 1 1/2" Black Copper Crimp Rings for securing these fittings.

About PEX Crimp Rings:

PEX crimping system is the most reliable and most widely used methods of installing PEX. Crimp rings ensure full 360˚ Compression of the pipe over the barbs of the fitting without the risk of expansion or corrosion. Size of the PEX crimp ring corresponds to the PEX pipe size, namely, 1/2" crimp rings for 1/2" PEX, 3/4" for 3/4" and so on. PEX crimp rings are installed by positioning it over the pipe and fittings and compressing it with the help of a PEX crimp (crimping) tool.

Frequently asked questions about this product:

Q: How do I determine the right crimp ring size for my PEX tubing sizes?

A: The specified size of the crimp ring must always match the size of the PEX pipe it's used with. If using a 3/4" pipe, you'll need the 3/4" rings, 1" rings for 1" pipe, etc.

Q: What if the crimp connection was done improperly or unevenly?

A: A decrimping tool can be used to remove the crimp rings, or you can use a small grinding tool such as a Dremel to remove the bad crimp ring.

Q: How far away should I position the crimp ring from end of the pipe?

A: Make sure that the fitting is fully inserted in the tubing. Recommended distance between the end of the pipe (or shoulder of the fitting) and the edge of the ring is between 1/8" and 1/4".

Q: Are these crimp rings compatible with other brand tools, fittings and tubing?

A: Yes, these crimp rings are universal and will work both with PEX crimp tools, crimp fitting and tubing sold here at Badger Pipe, and the same type components of different brands purchased elsewhere.

Q: Crimp Rings vs. PEX Clamps - which is better?

A: Both systems are widely used and accepted by code. The Crimp system, is by far the most cost effective, most dependable, and easiest system to use. This system has many years of proven performance and works well for both beginners and professionals. PEX clamp system is better for a quick temporary fix but typically does not hold up to long term use very well, and they are more expensive than Crimp rings.
